I’ve just received my copy of Dresden Plate: New Quilts from an old Favorite. For anyone who doesn’t know, my quilt Paisley Pavane is featured in the book, along with the other 17 finalists in the yearly contest. Full of inspiration, this book has articles about each quilt written by the quiltmakers. In each article, you’ll learn a little bit about the quiltmaker, their ideas and inspiration about the quilt, and special techniques used in constructing these innovative quilts. The quilts are all innovative interpretations of the traditional Dresden Plate block. If you’re looking for a way to break out of your box, look to this book for some great ideas.
The book is beautiful, but I was sadly disappointed by the color reproduction on my quilt photos. Should you wish to see the quilt as it truly is, you can see it in the Newest Quilts Gallery, or you can check the Shows page for galleries and museums that will be hosting this special exhibit as it travels around the United States until the end of 2007. Oh, BTW, the cover is not as pictured at Amazon, and they may not even have it in stock as of this writing. Try the AQS site to order.
