Off the Bookshelf—A Perfect Union

A Perfect Union...

A Perfect Union…,
by Darlene Christopherson

A Perfect Union of Patchwork and Applique is one of those books that’s a great reference, and worth far more than first glance would suggest. Darlene combines patchwork and applique blocks in creative perfection, and fills the book with explicit instructions and guides to help you create your own “perfect union” quilt. Instructions are included for 18 applique blocks and 26 variations of three traditional pieced blocks, including machine and hand piecing directions, as well as sashing and border options. The applique patterns are truly beautiful, and all the blocks in the book could be used for other projects. Though presented as appropriate for all skill levels, I would think that a beginner with no quilting experience might find some of the blocks tough going; advanced beginners to intermediate quilters and above should have no trouble.
