Make a Sample Sandwich

Make a mini quilt sandwich with the same top, batting and backing materials as your project to test machine quilting threads and designs. Once you’ve sampled and tested and made the final decisions about threads and designs, make notes about machine and tension settings, and keep this sample handy while you quilt your project. When you sit down to work on your project, start quilting on your sample first as a warm up to get you into the machine quilting groove when you sit down to quilt your project. It’s a handy reference and a great warm up tool rolled into one!
