Successful Pressing

Press patchwork gently without steam when piecing. Steam can cause misshapen pieces and blocks and overzealous pressing risks iron shine on the fabric, and can make the thread show in between the pieces at the seam line. Let the weight of the iron do the work for you and think of persuading the pieces to go in the direction you want them to go. Save steam for the final pressing of the quilt top before basting for quilting.
