Template Tips

When tracing around templates for patchwork pieces, use a marker that you can see clearly. Remember that when you’ve drawn around the patchwork piece, you’ve added the width of the drawn line to the size of the piece all the way around, so when you cut out the piece, cut just inside the drawn line so that the piece is accurately sized. Since the line you’ve drawn will be cut away from the patchwork piece, it’s okay to use a fine point permanent marker like a Pigma pen, or even a jelly roll type marker to mark the cutting line.
