Quilting on a Budget

If you’re on a tight budget (when you’re making your pennies scream because you’re pinching them so hard) then take advantage of sales and clearance fabrics. Okay, so you can’t get nice coordinating fabrics that are all from the same line or maker, but you can end up with some really great fabrics for 50-75% off their original price. Right around every holiday, some stores put their clearance fabric on sale for 50% clearance price, which means you get it for 75% off original price. Buy the bolt, buy everything they’ve got of the kinds of fabric you need. Then you’ve got fabric to give away for exchanges, you’ve got fabric to make really eclectic quilts, and you can fill in gaps by buying remnants. Don’t get trapped into just buying the pretty packaged stuff though, if you can get it on sale…
