There’s absolutely no really cool story to go along with today’s jaunt down memory lane, I just love this little quilt! I made it back in 2002 just for fun, and I still have some other trimmed away bits stuffed in the UFO cabinet for another small project that will get done someday. The Jinny Beyer Palette fabrics are loads of fun to work with, though I do remember having quite the time figuring out what to use as a border for this quilt! The batik in the border was a fat quarter, so there was some sneaky piecing required to make it work.
I think I may have started with one of these little swatch packs that are still available from Jinny Beyer Studio. I’m also pleased to see that I actually signed and dated the back of this quilt, which meant I didn’t have to sit here wracking my brain to figure out when I actually made it while writing this post. Always a bonus!
If I made this quilt again, I might do something a bit more involved with the quilting. I still wouldn’t do much over the palette fabrics because I wouldn’t want to obscure the color blending but I think the quilting in the border could have benefited from something other than more circles at least.
Quilt stats: Untitled, 24″ x 15″, Cotton fabrics, quilted with rayon thread, polyester batting, completed in 2002
About this Memory Lane Monday thing… The more observant among you may have caught this already, but this is exactly the sort of thing that I said I wasn’t ever going to do again–these “must post something at the same time every week” or “series” types of posts. And it totally killed my momentum. I don’t know why, but that’s how it works with me right now. Oops. So… yeah… I’m going to just back up a little and say “I’ll post an older quilt when I feel like it on a Monday and skip the linky party jazz.” After all, I’m doing this for me and whoever else in my family might eventually care about all of the quilts around here, and that’s all it needs to be. Have a lovely Monday! 🙂
