New Inchie Quilt! Where the Inchies Are Remake

I’m totally excited about my latest finish! It’s a fun little quilt that I made for Valentine’s Day, and also just because! Just because I had some red and pink scraps laying around, and just because I wanted a quick-to-make project with Inchies. If you follow on Instagram, you’ve seen some sneak peeks already, but now I have some larger pics of the quilt and of course, the addicting little Inchies.

The sinuous strips are appliquéd with fusible web and the edges satin stitched with Sulky rayon thread. The quilting is all done free motion, even the straight grid in the background and the “in the ditch” edge stitching around the appliqué designs, and all with Rainbows from Superior Threads. Sulky rayon is also my thread of choice for edge stitching the Inchies! The Inchies are quilted, edge stitched and embellished with beads, embroidery floss, metallic threads, hot fix crystals, and small scrapbooking items and then glued to the quilt with fabric glue. The quilt measures about 14″ x 19″ and the Inchies are–of course!–just 1″ square!

Those of you who have been around here a while might recognize this pattern. This quilt is a variation of my original Where the Inchies Are quilt that Irish Quilting magazine published back in 2009. I’m not sure what the circulation was for the magazine, but I do know that some folks here in the US weren’t always able to get their hands on a copy of the magazine.

Where the Inchies Are Pattern, Nadine RugglesNow it seems that Irish Quilting Magazine has completely ceased publication, so I’ve decided to (re)publish the pattern for Where the Inchies Are, including this smaller variation that I’ve just completed. The pattern includes instructions, full-size applique patterns, color photos and of course, instructions for making Inchies! This project is a perfect introduction to colorwash Inchies if you’ve never made them, and a fun quilt pattern that can be customized for many occasions–think holiday themes and school or team colors.

The PDF pattern is already available in my Etsy shop, at a special introductory price of just $5.00 this week only (until January 25)! Add an InchieSee & InchieDo Viewer Tool & Ruler Set and Inchies get even easier to make. And just a bit of a heads up: if you’re not following on Instagram, now’s the time ’cause there just might be a giveaway coming VERY soon! 😉
