In an effort to curb the consumption of holiday sweets around here this year, I told everyone in the house that they could pick just one thing that they’d like me to bake. If you only knew how much sweet stuff we end up with that I don’t bake myself, you would understand that I’m not being mean, it’s just self preservation!
I could already guess what their choices would be, just as I’d already made the decision as to what my own choice would be. Kentucky Brown Sugar Pecan Bars are my very favorite holiday cookies, so the choice was easy! Continue reading “Colorful Cookie Inspiration”
Just popping in to say “Merry Christmas!” or “Happy Holidays!” or whatever greeting fits the season best for you and yours!
I hope this finds you safe, warm and happy, and enjoying good times and special moments with family and friends–with a dash of quilting on the side! 🙂
I’ve been swept along by the busy, busy, busy-ness of the year, and here it is almost Christmas already! I’ve been decorating, shopping and cooking in addition to all the normal stuff that’s been on my schedule this fall, which was already more than I was used to. I still have one more food shopping trip before Christmas–though I’ve yet to finish a list–and a few more errands to run, but I decided it was time to finish up the decorating with a couple of Christmas quilts that I’ve made over the years. I have a few, and they end up on the backs of the sofas or on the arms of chairs, or even on cabinet tops on display stands if they’re small enough. Continue reading “Decking the Halls with Quilts”
There’s absolutely no really cool story to go along with today’s jaunt down memory lane, I just love this little quilt! I made it back in 2002 just for fun, and I still have some other trimmed away bits stuffed in the UFO cabinet for another small project that will get done someday. The Jinny Beyer Palette fabrics are loads of fun to work with, though I do remember having quite the time figuring out what to use as a border for this quilt! The batik in the border was a fat quarter, so there was some sneaky piecing required to make it work. Continue reading “Memory Lane Monday: Color Play”
Random, short(ish) thoughts from the week in no particular order of importance (though if you’re new ’round here, be warned that I don’t do “short” very well):
What’s in a name: I’ve been tossing around the idea of changing the name of my website for a while. DreamWeaver’s Quilts isn’t really significant in any way, or related to or descriptive of what I do and have done for years. Oh, okay yeah, the “Quilts” bit is, but the rest? Honestly, it was the one thing I thought of that I liked years ago when I purchased the domain name, and was actually inspired by one of my favorite songs ever, Dream Weaver by Gary… um… whatshisface… brb Googling that… Gary Wright, that was it. And lookie, I even found a YouTube video of it live: Continue reading “Social Media Bits & City Life”
I found this photo while I was digging for the old quilt photos for the Memory Lane Monday post this week. I sat and looked at it for quite a while, remembering the day my girls were riding one of the horses together at my parents cabin one summer. I’d love to make a portrait quilt based on this photo and hang it in our living area!
