Quilting with Patches and Shadow: Not quilting, just nursing!

Well, we’ve had a sick kitty here. Patches has been really, really ill since Sunday evening, not eating or drinking, and he was lethargic and has sores in his mouth. Bad, bad news. The blood test results are still inconclusive, but we think he may have FIP, which is really not good. Today though, after a trip to the vet to pump him with fluids, painkillers, and vitamin paste, I’m happy to say that he did eat some canned food, for the first time since Sunday. Maybe he is getting better.

So, I haven’t quilted much these past few days. I’ve been too worried to concentrate on it really. Maybe tomorrow will be easier and I can get back to semi-normal.

Quilting with Patches and Shadow: Bringing Up Baby

Here’s one of the boys:

The daily (sometimes hourly!) drink

Patches is dutifully showing Shadow the ropes. These spoiled cats have their OWN drinking fountain, a cute little dome-type thing that the water pours out over and then goes into a pool, and they do use it, but they still have to have their bathtub drink every morning, afternoon and evening. Strange.

Quilting with Patches and Shadow: Nowhere to sit

You know, awhile back I bought a nice new office chair to replace the chair that was falling apart and bad for my back. So now I have two office chairs in my sewing room, one for the machine and one for the computer and I still have nowhere to sit, thanks to the cats!

The other day, I get up from the computer, move Shadow off my lap where he’s in residence anytime that I’m sitting it seems like, and leave him in the chair since I’m such a nice Mommy. I went to sit in the other chair Continue reading Quilting with Patches and Shadow: Nowhere to sit

Quilting with Patches and Shadow

Big news at the Ruggles household! Patches has a new buddy! See the Announcement. Shadow has joined our family officially, after a somewhat rocky start. He was a bit sick when we brought him home, with weepy eyes, sneezing and coughing. The vet did tests for a couple of really awful things that aren’t curable, and would cause a return to the breeder if he tested positive. Happily, all the results were negative and he just has a bacterial infection, like a kitty cold. He is getting better, and Shadow and Patches are already getting along great! Shadow just wants to play, and Patches just goes along with him. They’ll keep me laughing while I quilt, I’m sure.
