This week was pretty awesome on some counts, and kinda flat on others. The biggest awesome bit? LittleOne passed her drivers license test and is now driving herself around! Woohoo! My taxi hat is officially OFF now, forever I hope!! Less yo-yo-ing in the car and more quilting is never a bad thing, right?

I’m totally excited about my latest finish! It’s a fun little quilt that I made for Valentine’s Day, and also just because! Just because I had some red and pink scraps laying around, and just because I wanted a quick-to-make project with Inchies. Last week I made a quick trip to my LQS to pick up my Pfaff 1475 with its brand new motherboard. Ouch on that. The machine is probably nearing 20 years old and it’s been packed up in the original box for about five years. When I took it out a few weeks back hoping to use it when my Bernina needed repairs, the Pfaff was DoA on the sewing table. It was NOT a great week to try to sew anything! 🙁
Despite being essentially a backup machine these days, I decided I should go ahead and repair it now since it’s a really wonderful machine (one of the older Pfaff machines that was made in Germany before Husqvarna Viking bought Pfaff out and moved production to cheaper areas), and if I didn’t have it repaired now it wasn’t likely to get done at all as the parts for it are no longer manufactured. And who knows? One of my girls might eventually decide to sew and need a machine… maybe… okay I’m reaching here I know!
While I was at the LQS, I did the mad dash through the fabric in hopes to pick up some more of that yummy Kate Spain fabric that I ran short on, and maybe a couple of bluesy aquas to go with it. Continue reading

For the last week, I’ve been visiting family in the States, since I didn’t go all the way back to Germany between Quilt Market/Festival in Houston and the AQS Quilt Expo Des Moines. I’ve been at my parents house relaxing for the last few days after visiting with my uncle and aunt the weekend before. Believe me, the peace and quiet has been sorely needed after the craziness and constant activity of Quilt Market, and I might finally be over the jet lag! But I’ll be back on a plane on Monday headed for Des Moines!

The rest of Quilt Market and Festival was about the same as the first parts: crazy busy! A few of the goings on:
More book signings and demos at the AQS booth and also at Petersen-Arne (a large quilting supplies distributor). Again, lots of excited quilt shop owners and managers took home free copies of Inchie Quilts, and placed orders for the book and the InchieSee & InchieDo Viewer Tool & Ruler Set, so don’t be surprised if you see Inchie Quilts at a local quilt shop near you very soon!
I chatted with Doug Kreinik of Kreinik Manufacturing Co. about creating some custom sampler packages of beautiful metallic textured threads for embellishment purposes. I use Kreinik threads and cords when I embellish Inchies (search for Kreinik at InchieQuilts.com to see Inchies embellished with Kreinik threads). It would be great to have some packages with a variety of different weights or textures in coordinating colors on hand for Inchies. I’ll be working with Kreinik on these sampler packages this winter, so watch for these coming soon to the DWQ Studio. Continue reading
